IMMORTAL

IMMORTAL☥ sinks into the perspective of Lassai, a black working class queer non binary person surviving in a pro-cishetero, homophobic, transphobic, and racist world. A world that has brutally demonized their body and lifestyle, ultimately forcing them (and other queer people) into "darkness" where they have inevitably evolved into something much more powerful and enigmatic that seems to never fully die. IMMORTAL has explored themes of escapism, sex work, BDSM, and life in Chicago post pandemic. It pays homage to black queer underground legends who crafted the early sounds of House/EDM/techno and footwork music, while also weaving in more contemporary sounds like Bedroom pop, hyper pop, and vogue..

WONDERLAND

Pays homage to prolific black women writers such as Bell Hooks, our Ancestors, and African Spirituality, using a soundscape of Contemporary R&B, Dance, Hiphop, and Gospel. “Wonderland” is intended to hold up a mirror to Homophobia and Racism with hopes of eradicating it, while also inviting queer and femme folk down the rabbit hole to “Wonderland”, a sonic land of freedom, empowerment, and self-love; from the heart and mind of Lassai, carefully sequenced into this song cycle. Produced by MATA, B8keboy, and Mush,‘Wonderland ' was entirely written and recorded by Lassai. Mixed and Mastered by Michael Kolar, Bryan Schwaller, Bonita Appleblunt and Kevin Carafa. “Wonderland” also features some of Lassai’s favorite queer artists such as Thee David Davis, Donny G, Petty Crocker, and Juice Waters

Q + A with Kyle Denis creator of On The Bulletin + writer for Billboard.

"His smooth r&b fabulousness is throughout his singles. He’s a singer/songwriter and Actor, who is in the vein of artists like Maxwell. Just so good. Just so, by foundation is very much ‘classic’. The Chicago artist continues his trek up the ladder.” - Comeherefloyd on “Fixated”

"LASSAI’s ‘Horizon’ is an immaculate method of the artist providing clarity for our muddled human thoughts in crises. But a reminder that things can be better. LASSAI’s finding his groove in his art. It’s a good start.”

DISCREET

“Discreet - careful and circumspect in one’s speech or actions, especially in order to avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage.” - definition from Oxford Languages.

Discreet dives into Lassai’s personal perspective of dating in the black queer world. The constant battle of being yourself + being desirable. The difficulties of falling in love with someone who is afraid to love you back.

"His sensual vocals entice nostalgia while he shares about nightly cruises, moonlit gazes, and shimmering lakes. The soulful soundscapes and contemporary tones accent Lassai’s harmonies.” -  The Word is Bond

A collaborative EP between best friends LASSAI X CONNER. Inspired by musical duos like KC + JoJo, Chloe + Halle, and VanJess. “Play. Pause. Rewind” represents a relationship in three different phases. This project embodies a nostalgic and carefree essence. It’s a coming of age piece, representing black queerness beautifully.

WATER + BIRTH
